Arizona PBS

Arizona PBS is a community service of Arizona State University. AZ PBS offers educational and family
support workshops for families with young children, birth to 5 and not yet in kindergarten, living in
LaPaz/Mohave county, as well as services within the Colorado River Indian Tribes. Workshops and
programs are offered at no cost to families through grants provided by First Things First.
The parent outreach and awareness program focus on building parent’s access to information and support understanding of developmental milestones, children’s brain development, and the importance of early literacy skills and promoting kindergarten readiness.  We provide multiple parenting activities through community resource fairs, parent-child engagement workshops, as well as parent support workshops featuring multiple “Love and Logic” parenting curriculum.

Throughout the Colorado River Indian Tribes region, AZ PBS offers a SuperWhy Transition to Kindergarten camp for four- and five-year-old children not yet in kindergarten, to help familiarize young children with the routines of a classroom setting and group activities including family involvement activities.  Children and families will receive support in early literacy concepts and activities to incorporate reading at home.  Train the Trainer models for all workshops are offered as well.

AZ PBS also offers a free text messaging program, Bright by Text, for families that sends tips, resources, and community events that promote child development, all targeted to a child’s age, prenatally-age 8.  Families are encouraged to sign up for the program simply by texting ArizonaPBS to 274448 and provide only their child’s birthdate and zip code.
